Lake Lure is located in the Western North Carolina mountains, slightly east of the Continental Divide. Lake Lure is one of four small village/towns only a few miles apart -- Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, and Gerton are to our west and are situated alongside of the Rocky Broad River in what is known as Hickory Nut Gorge. We are southeast of Asheville, NC on US 74-A, about a 45 minute drive. Southeast, our closest major city is Charlotte, about a 2.5 hour drive. To the south, we are only about 1.25 hours from Greenville, SC and about 3 hours from Atlanta, GA. Greensboro, Durham, and Raleigh, NC are further east. We are about 4.5 hours drive from Raleigh, NC. The following directions are meant to be used as guidelines. If you are unsure of the correct route from your departure location, please consult a road map or AAA.

Traveling West on Interstate 40
Take exit #81 (Sugar Hill Road). Turn left. Follow about 4.5 miles where you will see a sign for Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Follow the right-hand curve to stay on Sugar Hill Road (just past reddish-brown farm fencing). At Montford Cove, Sugar Hill Road becomes Cove Road. Continue on Bill's Creek Road (large sign on the left reads "Fairfield Mountains Next Right") you will have traveled about 11.5 miles. Turn right on Bill's Creek Road and follow about 9 miles to US 74-A. Turn right on 74-A and follow about 8 miles to Lake Lure. The lake will be visible from alongside this 8-mile stretch which is a winding road. When you get into Lake Lure, the public beach will be on your right, and the Lake Lure Inn will be on your left. Proceed around the S-Curve and look for LAKE COUNTRY VACATION RENTALS on the right side of the road, just past the Community Center and town Marina. We are a large tan and stone building with parking and entrance just past our building on the right.
Traveling East on Interstate 40
Exit on Interstate 26 (to Hendersonville), follow about 30 minutes, then take the Bat Cave/Chimney Rock Exit (US 64 East). Follow through apple country to US 74-A, about 13 miles. Turn right on US 74-A and follow through Bat Cave and Chimney Rock Village. LAKE COUNTRY VACATION RENTALS will be the first building on the left after the Rocky Broad River bridge. For a more scenic route, but a it more curvy, exit I-40 at the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock Exit (US 74-A east). Turn right and follow about 25 miles through Fairview, Gerton, Bat Cave and Chimney Rock..
Traveling West on Interstate 26
Take exit #67 (old exit #36) - Columbus/Tryon/NC 108. Turn right at the top of the ramp. Follow NC 108 to NC 9,about 7 miles (flashing yellow signal over intersection of NC 108 and NC 9). Turn left and follow NC 9 to US 74-A (about 10 miles). You will see the lake at this junction. Turn left on US 74-A and follow about 4 miles to Lake Lure. The public beach will be on your right, and the Lake Lure Inn will be on your left. Proceed around the S-Curve and look for LAKE COUNTRY VACATION RENTALS on the right side of the road, just past the Community Center and town Marina. From Charlotte
We are northwest of Charlotte. Take I-85 South to US 74 (to King's Mountain and Shelby); Stay on US 74 (do not go to Forest City and Rutherfordton). Just continue on US 74 and take exit #167 (NC 9) at Mill Spring/New Prospect. Turn right on NC 9 and follow about 10 miles to US 74-A. You will see the lake at this junction. Turn left on US 74-A and follow about 4 miles to Lake Lure. The public beach will be on your right, and the Lake Lure Inn will be on your left.
