Rumbling Bald Resort on Lake Lure (Fairfield Mountains) is our area’s premier resort/residential/retirement community. Situated on Lake Lure’s northernmost shore, this private community consists of over 2,600 acres and offers some of the finest golf and recreational activities in our region. Bald Mountain Lake is also located within the resort.
The Resort has two 18-hole championship golf courses and each course is surrounded by residential neighborhoods of single-family homes.
Bald Mountain is over 1,000 acres and, according to Golf Digest, features “one of the most beautiful mountain courses around.” The entire Bald Mountain Subdivision is a gated area protected by 24-hour security.
Apple Valley is the communities’ newest golf course and neighborhood. Apple Valley Golf Course was designed by Dan Maples and opened in 1986. The course was featured by Golf Digest in it’s Places to Play in 1994.
The lakeside Recreation Center is the hub of resort activity with its indoor pool and recreation activities for all ages. The summer "Kids Program," mini golf, and game rooms are enjoyed by the younger set while adults take pleasure in the sauna, whirlpool and weight room. Enjoy the beach area for sunbathing, swimming or just a game of volleyball. A stroll down the boardwalk can be a relaxing way to end your day.
The resort features two outdoor and one heated indoor pool. The indoor pool at our recreation center is open year around and features locker rooms, sauna and a whirlpool.
There are four outdoor lighted tennis courts near the Recreation Center. Available are Round Robins, Youth and Adult Clinics, and Private Lessons. Soak up the sun and scenery from our white sandy beach while watching a spirited game of volleyball or horseshoes. Rent canoes, hydro-bikes or fishing boats by the hour.Whatever your recreation needs, Lake Lure Golf and Beach Resort is a vacation for the whole family. A nominal charge of $25.00 (temporary membership) by the resort is required for each rental visit. This is not a per night, nor a per person fee.
